3rd July 2002

It has to be said that on the whole I hate public transport. This morning I got abandoned at Tower Hill on the District line with the promise of no more trains until further notice. An incident had occurred at Monument / Bank stations and they were both shut, this in one fell swoop closing all main East West routes that I could get to. I eventually ended up in Holborn and got the Piccadilly line to Earls Court and got to work 45 minutes late.

I was late into work yesterday because the train inexplicably decided to have a twenty minute rest in a tunnel somewhere near Embankment Station. I’m sure the people in the office must think that I just can’t get out of bed. Trust me I would love to have spent the time wasted in travelling incidents in bed. I really would. It’d probably make me a better person.

Work has been a bit naff the last two days also with a to do list that is growing and growing. I have decided that I don’t like work. Work and fun are mutually exclusive. If you can get paid for having fun then that’s great, but you don’t have fun when you are working. I’m very clear where the boundaries and work are. Someday I’ll rant about it a bit more I guess.

It’s July and the weather is horrible. It rains far too much for my liking. The great thing about the summer is the long evenings. These are curtailed much too quickly when there are rainclouds about.

I was at the Drill for the first time in a very long time last night. It was good seeing the gang and letting people have my mobile number and playing silly mobile phone games. Its good to have friends. I would probably have stayed home and been even more miserable if no one had organised anything. Could you imagine me being in a less happy mood? You probably can but I am trying very hard not to.

Badminton tonight, that should keep me busy, hopefully there won’t be any injuries but I will have fun and a bit of exercise. That’s the plan anyway. We’ll see.
