October 15th 2002 *Sigh* I think that is the best way of describing the way I am feeling at the moment. This week is one that is just going to really irritate me. I’m not going to get to play badminton because of an England football game against Macedonia that I really couldn’t care less about to be honest. And various things are just going to irritate me all week. Not made me mad yet, just irritated me.
The main server went down yesterday and we had people shouting at us from all directions. It wasn’t fun but there was so little we could do about it. Now there is going to be a post mortem and my time off for working last Saturday all but cancelled. More of that in a moment. I’m going to stick to events in reverse chronological order.
Sunday was a pretty quiet day, a day I spent mainly in bed. A day I would have spent all day in bed if Del hadn’t called me and told me a few people were interested in going to the Brentwood pub quiz. But not him. However just as we were expecting to be picked up news came through that Julie had been involved in a car accident serious enough to write her car off. She wasn’t seriously injured but was very pissed off as you can imagine. So it looked like we couldn’t go as Jules wasn’t in a condition to trek out and her dad was with her doing what he could in the situation. Then when I thought all was lost Andy came to the rescue and we did end up going to the quiz. We didn’t think we were doing very well. This was because we were getting a fair few questions wrong and we were marking the best teams paper. In the end we were third and only by half a point. We were quite happy with this as it was quite unexpected.
Saturday saw me going back to Aylesbury for the first time since the Rachel years. This is a good eight or nine years ago. I was surprised by how little the place has changed at all. I was there to work on a new server set-up for work. Not the funnest way to spend Saturday, especially when your day off in lieu is later denied. Grrr. The rest of last week is pretty much a blur of blandness. I did play badminton and I did enjoy it. That’s about all I remember.
This week is going to take forever to be all said and done, just as someone warned me. For next week is my holiday with Erin. No one will stop me having this holiday! Not even the computers that are falling over! Until next time!
