17th December 2002

It’s a Tuesday, it is about quarter past one in the afternoon and all I have done today is respond to e-mails. Occasionally I have clicked a button or two in response to the request in the e-mail, but by and large it’s been writing emails, that would be unnecessary if people learnt to do what was needed directly. I guess the management has gambled that people will do this when I’m not here and therefore my post is no longer required. It’ll be interesting to see what happens. People aren’t in the slightest bit interested in learning a thing. Which at the moment suits me fine as I have no interest in teaching them. A month here however, is going to feel like a very long time.

So I had yesterday off to go Christmas shopping and to cancel my direct debits at the bank. I get to the bank and they tell me I want telephone services, something I could have done from home or work. The shopping didn’t produce the results that I hoped it would either as all of the shops failed to have what I wanted to buy. I hate Christmas shopping.

However yesterday I got a game for the Gameboy Advance called Advance Wars. I fear many hours of my life will disappear whilst playing that. Yesterday I had meant to do a few things, update databases at home, watch a few DVDs, but none of it happened all because of this game.

Saturday was fun. I spent the day at Robs new offices, helping out as I could, which wasn’t a great deal but at least I didn’t feel completely useless and out of my depth. In the evening I headed on over to Colchester for Paul’s birthday party. An amusing affair with most people getting far too drunk. I really wasn’t in the mood for drinking as my two bottles of Smirnoff Ice between 7 and 4am proved. I was so tired on Sunday night when I got back however that I was asleep by 9pm.

I was at the post IHT Annual lunch on Friday night. It was good to see everyone but my old boss Phillip wasn’t his usual self, which was a shame. Another night of drunkenness I was at but not drinking. I think I’m getting old!
